River Byelaws

  1. No holder of a fishing ticket shall fish with more than one rod and line.

  2. Spinning will not be permitted until 1st July each year.

  3. All unseasonable fish and all fish less than 9 inches (23cm)measured from fork of tail to the nose shall be returned to the water.

  4. Any holder of a fishing ticket shall at the request of a Bailiff or any Officer of the Association turn out any bag or pocket.

  5. The maximum number of fish which may be taken in any one day is THREE. When the limit has been taken the angler must refrain from fishing for the remainder of that day.

  6. Fish caught in Association waters shall not be sold.

  7. Night fishing for Salmon and Sea Trout is permitted only by members who have taken out a salmon licence  until 2am GMT.

  8. Fishing for Trout  is between 1 hour before sunrise and 1 hour after sun set.

  9. Any person fishing association waters must produce their licence at the request of any bailiff, any officer of the association or any member who first produces his licence.

  10. Anyone fishing must have in his possession a current licence and rod licence.

  11. The annual close season for fishing for non-migratory trout shall be between 30th day of September and 3rd day of March when all members shall abstain from fishing for them and eels. Members holding a salmon licence may fish until 17th day of October for sea trout and salmon.

  12. No holder of a fishing licence shall take a dog with them onto private land where they have permission to fish.

  13. Holders of a fishing licence must protect the property of the land owner and must shut gates and not walk through standing crops or grass and on no account go over or through hedges.

  14. Bait fishing on Association waters is restricted to worm or aquatic larvae only.

  15. Junior members under 14 years of age must be under the supervision of a responsible adult at all times.
